Tehran TimesIran’s Giti Pasand wins Asian Club Futsal Championship07 July 2012KUWAIT – Iran’s Sanaye Giti Pasand claimed the title of the 2012 Futsal Club Championship with a 2-1 victory over Uzbekistan’s Ardus at the Yarmouk Indoor Stadium on Friday.
It is the second time that an Iranian club has won the title; Sepahan won the inaugural championship in 2010.
Afshin Kazemi gave the Iranians an early 1-0 lead in the 3rd minute but Artur Yunusov equalized within seconds of the end of the first half. Brazilian Rudimar Venancio scored Giti Pasand’s second goal in the 24th minute.
Nagoya Oceans has been awarded with a 'Fair Play' trophy and Giti Pasand's Mohammad Keshavarz was declared MVP of the tournament. Keshavarz's teammate Ahmad Esmaeilpour walked away with top scorer’s honor with nine goals.
The Futsal Committee of Iran Football Federation (IFF) in late June stripped Giti Pasand of its title in the domestic league for match-fixing.
According to IFF’s Article 41, Giti Pasand’s title was revoked and the team was fined 80,000,000 rials ($4200).
