Gary RoseSWINDON Town teams were out in force to face some of the best sides in the south of England at the Female Development Festival.
The event was hosted by Reading Football Club, but held in Swindon’s @Futsal arena.
The local teams were supported by Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust and Swindon Borough Council Girls Centre For Football Excellence.
Swindon’s representatives battled it out with their Reading, Watford, Coventry City, Charlton Athletic and Northampton Town counterparts.

One of the under 11 teams were closest to winning the festival, missing out on the final by a single strike on goal difference.
Shane Hewlett, Centre For Excellence director said: “It was a fantastic day for our girls to take part in, and the improvement from the previous festival was there for all to see.
“The girls of all age groups can feel proud of the effort and enthusiasm that they put in wearing the Swindon kit, and we look forward to taking on fantastic teams such as the ones we have faced today in the near future.”
