UMS into Grand final

Kota Kinabalu: The UMS women's team have booked their place in the Grand final of the National Futsal League Felda/FAM 2012 after finishing second in their Group B preliminary round.

The team coached by Mohd Asraf Fong Abdullah failed to win their final match with a 0-3 defeat to Selangor MPSJ on Sunday.

According to him, the team was holding well against MPSJ until the last ten minutes of the match.

'It was a keenly contested affair and both teams were unable to convert their chances until the 36th minute where a lapse of concentration from our players allowed them to score three quick goals in the space of four minutes."

"Despite the heartbreak, the team still finished second in the group and qualified for the Grand Final and we will definitely train even harder to rectify our weaknesses."

He said the team is aiming to finish higher than their fifth position achieved last season and hopefully qualify for the final.

The loss was the team's second defeat in the competition.

The team had a day earlier upset former champions PDRM 7-0.

They had also defeated ATM 7-1, KL Putra 9-2, Perlis 2-0 and a 0-2 defeat by Selangor late last year.
