Portrait kick off AFL

Friday, 27th Jan 2012

PHUKET: The new season of the Adult Futsal League (AFL) got underway under floodlights last Thursday (January 19) as reigning Premier Division Champions Portrait FC took on last season’s runners-up Thanachart Bank at Thanyapura.

The ninth season of the AFL kicked off last week.
In a close fought match, Portrait got their season off to a winning start by claiming a 4-3 victory.

At the same time on Field 2, the First Division got underway with AFL regulars Island Boys up against Season 8 Fair Play Award winners, Ultraman.

In another close match, Ultraman took the lead before Island Boys hit back with two unanswered goals.

It looked as if Island Boys were going to hold on for the three points, but with five minutes left, Ultraman scored an equaliser and the match finished a 2-2 draw.

Up next saw Season 8 Division 1 Champions Thalang Tigers play Honda in their first game since being promoted to the Premier League. Thalang were obviously still riding high on last season’s success, as they were too strong for Honda and claimed a 6-1 victory.

The final match saw TSLC up against Chevrolet.

The opening half was a tight affair with both teams trying find a way through their opposition’s defence, but it TSLC who took their chances and a 2-0 lead at half time.

In the second half, Chevrolet fought hard to get back into the game, but TSLC were too strong, and scored another two quick goals to claim the three points.
