Canberra TimesCobras strike on opening day10 Jan, 2012The ACT Cobras dismantled Tasmania 8-2 to kick-start their campaign in style at the national futsal championships at AIS Arena yesterday.
The hosts were in superb form in the opening stanza, racing to a 6-1 lead by half-time.
Jason O'Dwyer's early goal was cancelled out by a fine equaliser from Tasmania's Joshua Quan. That setback stunned the Cobras into action and George Cattanach grabbed a quick-fire brace.
O'Dwyer got his second before the half-time break and Trent Flanigan and Travis Dries both scored.
The pace eased off in the second half, but there was still time for Daniel Fulton and Robbie Cattanach to extend the lead to 8-1 before a Tasmanian consolation.
