And now... the end is here. Ladies & Gentlemen, this is the final day of the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2011, the 12th edition of the annual prizes released by Futsalplanet.com. We're ready to announce the winner of the Best Player of the World category. Twelve months ago o mágicoRicardinho got the title, but now is time to leave Europe and pay tribute to a craque who was missing this award since 2006: namely Alessandro Rosa Vieira Falcão!
Media Phenomenon Absolute exception on the futsal stage Falcão has been able to build his image as main futsal character (the 2011 year in Santos has helped a lot this process, due to his friendship with some soccer players of the club), always getting a huge impact on the media. This has secured the "best player of the world" reputation during the past years for the craque paulista, who kept on collecting titles and scoring unbelievable goals for the futsal fans delight.
300 times São Carlos (SP), April 9th 2011. Everyone in the Milton Olaio Filho hall is waiting for that moment. Uruguay's goalie Diego Codina cannot save the Falcão shot, the crowd in the paulista city is like crazy shouting the name of their idol. One more dream achieved by the best player of the world. As he said after that unforgettable day... números não se discutem.
Meu brilho ninguém tira. Tem que me respeitar No doubts on the Falcão's overreaction after his wonderful goal vs Russia that meant the Grand Prix triumph for Brazil (after their win in the Copa America on September). Relegated to the bench for a good part of the game, he claimed his protagonist role back when beating Gustavo through a brand new "chest-goal". "Meu brilho ninguém tira. Tem que me respeitar" were his words to the camera, but a Falcão vs Pipoca's "war" would not be beneficial at all.
Two mistakes don't mean a season One technical (that caused the Leandro Cuzzolino's goal in the Copa America final) and one disciplinary (the wrong reaction in the first Liga Futsal final missing the deciding game in Santos): even the best player of the world sometimes can get wrong. By the way both titles came for Brazil and Santos, with the only disappointments given by the defeat in the paulista estadual final vs Intelli as well as the end of the futsal section at Santos.
Próxima Paragem: Orlandia Ele está chegando. This is the slogan of the Intelli Orlandia management after completing the sensational trasfer of the best player of the world from Santos to Intelli. A new challenge for Falcão, before trying the japanese experience.
Those were the reasons why to declare Falcão as winner of the Best Player of the World category for the UMBRO Futsal Awards 2011 - 12th Edition by Futsalplanet.com!!
