BORO PLEA FOR SPONSORSHIP

Middlesbrough Futsal Club go into 2012 in a very promising position and one that many were predicting before the big kick off in October.

Second only on goal difference to rivals Manchester, who they host at Thornaby Pavilion on 5th February, and on track for a place in the playoffs, Boro have a lot to look forward to in 2012. However, with a lot of costs and only a small sponsor 2012 could just as easily turn bad.

“We got a bit of support before the season started but it was never going to be enough to see us through the season and we are now in a tight situation once again. We are looking for a sponsor to see us through until the end of 2012-13 and we have both the home and away shirt front and back, and shorts available for any businesses wanting to advertise,” explained chairman and manager Damon Shaw.

“We need to find about £4,000 as a minimum to cover the rest of our costs until the end of 2013 and we could do this with up to 6 different companies or one major sponsor, but without it, we will struggle to keep up at the top and even survive the season. None of the players or coaches get paid, even players that are paid to play football on a Saturday. We all do it voluntarily for the love of the game and we have finally reached a level of performance that could bring success to Teesside.”

Middlesbrough have stormed into contention for the title in 2011 and also developed a staunch following of supporters who have brought colour and noise, and a lot of publicity to Middlesbrough Futsal Club. The team is complete with a core of local talent, with captain Robbie Bettson, Mikey Roberts and Theo Furness all having been involved with England in 2011 and hoping to establish themselves in the squad this year.

“We are a team that the town can be proud of with a strong commitment to the local area and that shows with the makeup of the team. It would be a dream to bring the title back to Teesside for the fans and region alike. Hopefully Boro can win promotion as well and make it a good 2012 for Middlesbrough,” added Shaw.
