Elmir AliyevThe qualifier round of the world championship 2012 in futsal has started at the Palace of Sport in Baku yesterday.
Group 5 involves the national teams of Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Croatia and Macedonia. In the starting match, the Azerbaijani team was playing Croatia. The match where our team had a number of goal moments, unfortunately, ended in guests’ favor-3-1.
Croatians scored the first two goals in counterattacks. Jakov Grcic scored in the 28th minute and Dario Marinovic in the 34th minute. The national team of Azerbaijan scored its only goal a minute later. Vitaliy Borisov was the goal author. But the end to the game was put by Croatians: Frane Despotovic scored from the 6 meter penalty.
After the match, the head coach of the national tea of Azerbaijan Jose Alecio da Silva shared his impressions.
“Today I liked my team’s playing”, the Brazilian coach said. “It is bad that we lost. Croatians have a very organized team and the goalkeeper was just brilliant. The result was due to the goalkeeper.
We lost not because we did not have Biro Jade with us. Our problem was unrealized moments, though we played well. Everyone thought that Ukraine will easily beat Macedonia but this was not true. We need to play better with Macedonians and win by all means”.
The head coach of the national team of Croatia Mato Stankovich said the following:
“The national team of Azerbaijan is strong but I expected more from it. Throughout the match, the opponents were playing for Serjao but we managed to overcome him. Your team had a number of moments but our goalkeeper was brilliant”.
A little earlier the Ukrainian and Macedonian teams played. Ukrainians won 2-1.
Two best teams will get the right to face in the play off games.
