Ali Abdulrasool spearheaded the victors by scoring a brace, while teammates Abdulrahman Al Maliki and Mohammed El Sharkwai contributed a goal apiece.
Khaleeji Commercial Bank (KHCB) followed suit with a narrow 3-2 win over Isa Town. Abdulla Humaidan scored twice for the winners, while teammate Mehdi added another. Hisham Al Muhsen scored both the goals for the losers.
Meanwhile, Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) overcame a tough challenge from Muharraq 3-1. Hussain Ali netted a hat-trick for BDF, while Abdulla Ahmed had the lone strike for Muharraq.
In another match, Grand Thornton outclassed Al Ettihad 6-4 in a high-scoring affair.
Ahmed Yousef scored a double for Grand Thornton, who also had goals from Hassan Khamis, Mousa Abdulameer, Mohammed Abdulkarim and Ahmed Abbas.
Ahmed Salman was in fine form with a hat-trick for Ettihad. Hadi added their other goal.
Twenty-six teams are taking part in this championship. They have been divided into six groups, with each group winner and runner-up moving on to the next round. The opening stage is scheduled to conclude on July 11, to be followed by the start of round two the ensuing day. After this phase, the quarter-finals will take place on July 13, to be followed by the semi-finals on July 14.
The championship's final day has been scheduled for July 16, and it begins with the bronze medal match at 5pm. The gold medal game will follow at 6.30pm.
PrizeThe winning team will claim the top prize of BD1,500.
The runners-up will get BD1,000, while the third-placed will take home BD500.
Side prizes will also be presented to the league's top scorer, best goalkeeper and best overall player.
A Fair Play award will also be given out.
Fifteen companies are sponsoring the competition. They include golden sponsors Batelco, and silver sponsors Diyar Al Muharraq and Kuwait Finance House.
Bronze sponsors are Chevron Bahrain and Kia Motors, while other sponsors are BBK, Khaleeji Commercial Bank, Samsung, Ahmed Sharif Furniture, Kuwait Airways, Soccer Scene, Shoot, Al Ahmar Magazine and Al Qawasem Forums.
