KHCB make a winning start

KHALEEJI Commercial Bank (KHCB) yesterday made a winning start to their campaign in the inaugural Bahrain Futsal Championship, being played at Juffair Youth Centre. They outclassed Budaiya Club 13-7.

Diyar Al Muharraq were 8-2 winners in their match against Isa Town. Muharraq, meanwhile, came away with a hard-earned 2-0 triumph over Al Qawasem. Finally, Bahrain Defence Force hit five goals against Grand Thornton, while conceding none in a one-sided victory.

League action continues tonight with another series of games on the cards. BBK and the Interior Ministry go head to head in a group 'C' fixture, while Al Ahli Club and Bahrain Club face off in a group 'D' tie. Kia Motors and Manama Club also lock horns in group 'E'.

The winning team will claim the top prize of BD1,500.

The runners-up will get BD1,000, while the third-placed will take home BD500.

Side prizes will also be presented to the league's top scorer, best goalkeeper and best overall player. A Fair Play award will also be given out.

Golden Fifteen companies are sponsoring the competition. They include golden sponsors Batelco, and silver sponsors Diyar Al Muharraq and Kuwait Finance House.

Bronze sponsors are Chevron Bahrain and Kia Motors, while other sponsors are BBK, Khaleeji Commercial Bank, Samsung, Ahmed Sharif Furniture, Kuwait Airways, Soccer Scene, Shoot, Al Ahmar Magazine and Al Qawasem Forums.
