PERTH Youth Futsal representatives visited Barcelona to agree a series of deals and links which will pave the way for the club to broaden its horizons on many fronts.

Agreements were formed with FC Barcelona, Benfica FC of Portugal, Vikings Futsal International and the Brazilian Futsal Federation.

Among the plans already finalised are an FC Barcelona Futsal coaching class in Perth in April featuring Javi Rodriguez, who is the captain of FC Barcelona Futsal and the Spanish National Futsal Team, and a youth tournament in Barcelona in the summer of 2012.

Meanwhile, the club’s Perth Saltires squad are anxiously awaiting the result of the UEFA Futsal Cup draw which will take place in Switzerland on July 6.

With the preliminary round of games scheduled for August 13–21, it will be a busy summer for the squad as they prepare to represent Scotland in the event for the second year in a row.

In the meantime, the eighth annual PYF Open tournament will be held this Sunday at Bell’s Sports Centre.

With three sections running at 14/15 and 16/17 years old, as well as an adult group featuring the clubs Scottish Futsal double winners Perth Saltires, it is shaping up to be another exciting event in the PYF calendar.

The following week, PYF are holding a 12hr Futsal game on Saturday, July 2, starting at 9am and flowing through until 9pm. Participation is on a per person basis and anyone interested in participating should email the club asap as squad places will be limited. Full details will be made available soon.

PYF are holding their Level 2 coaching course in mid-August, featuring Spanish pro coaches Sergio Martinez and Roberto Garrido and the Head Coach of the Cyprus National Futsal Team Petros Konstantinou. The course is only open to PYF coaches.

The Perth Youth Futsal season restarts on August 26 and will continue with the same format as usual.

Applications are invited from teams wishing to participate in the 14/15 years old and 16/17 years old groups, as well as any player wishing to participate in the PYF Skillz school, which is open to any player aged up to 14 years old. Places are limited in each group, so early applications are advised.

With many interesting developments and changes in the pipeline for the 2011/12 season, the club are looking for additional volunteer coaches / admin help / committee members / sponsors to help the club continue making progress. Anyone interested in helping should get in touch asap.
