WORLD RECORD SET TO COME TO NORTH YORKSHIRE Middlesbrough Futsal Club may well be approaching the end of their season, but they are preparing to break the World Record for the longest ever futsal match, right here in North Yorkshire on 1st July!
Catterick Leisure Centre will play host to Middlesbrough and a team of challengers for at least 36 hours as they test their endurance to the max, while also raising money for TFM radio’s Cash for Kids and the club, which is run entirely by volunteers, despite competing in the national league.
With just under a month left, the drive for sponsorship is stepping up, with 30 participants, including six referees, all aiming to raise £200 for the cause, which would be a huge chunk of the £10,000 target.
The match, which kicks off at 10am on Friday 1st July and is set to end at 10pm on Saturday 2nd July, will break the record by 1 hour, set by Bethel College, USA, earlier this year. Entry to the world record is free, and donations on the door are more than welcome. There will also be raffles drawn at selected intervals and other activities taking place throughout the event.
Event organiser Damon Shaw is rallying support for the event and calling for people to be part of it.
“People can watch, volunteer and donate. All will help. We want the fans and supporters to push our total up to the £10,000 mark. It would be amazing if we had supporters there for the 36 hours as well, but especially when we are approaching the record at 9pm on Saturday. It’s going to be a cracking event and a first for UK soil”
