Kyaw Zin Hlaing23 APR 2018The 2018 MFF Futsal Open Cup champion MIC FC will once again represent Myanmar at the ASEAN Football Federation Club Championship in Indonesia in mid-July.
The Men’s AFF Clubs Championship Futsal competition for this year will be hosted by Indonesia on July 15-21 in Jakarta.
Myanmar’s MIC (Myanmar Imperial College) will compete for the third time in the annual tournament which will be held for the fourth edition.
MIC has competed twice in 2015 and 2016 but finished in third places in both tournaments.
Port FC from Thailand won in 2017 competition while Myanmar’s Pyay United ended up in group stage with just three points.
The competition isn’t for national teams and just for futsal club teams. Local national futsal champion teams from each ASEAN country will vie for the AFF trophy.
Eight futsal champion teams compete from host Indonesia, Myanmar, Brunei, Cambodia, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam will compete this year.
Representing Myanmar, MIC Futsal team will be in Group A along with Brunei club Arbisyam FC, Cambodia’s UYFC Komchaymear, Australia’s East Coast Heat FC, while Thailand’s club Bangkok BTS, Malaysia club Melaka United, Vietnam club Sanatech Khanh Hoa and runner-up team of Indonesia futsal league will make up Group B.
MIC will face Arbisyam FC from Brunei on July 15 in the opening match, followed by Cambodia’s UYFC Komchaymear on July 16 and Australia’s East Coast Heat FC on July 17.
The AFF Futsal club championship’s semi final matches will be played on July 19 and the final match on July 21.
