News of the AreaRoan Panther Heads Off To Brazil On Newest Representative TourApril 10, 2018by
Rachael VaughanRoan Panther is a young man going places.
More specifically, he will be on his way to Brazil this month after visiting China last year.
How did he earn his ticket to travel to travel to these two exotic locations? Through the sport of futsal.
Futsal, a variant of the sport of soccer, is played on a hard court which is similar in size to a basketball court and mainly played indoors.
Futsal is also played with a smaller, harder ball which when combined with the harder surface, makes controlling the ball a much more difficult proposition than the more traditional ball used in soccer.
The result is a fast and skilful game that relies on a player’s imagination and creativity to create chances.
In fact, futsal has been credited with providing the many skilful players with the foundation they required to go on and not only wear the yellow of Brazil in the Football World Cup, but to win the whole competition.
Roan started playing Futsal after attending a school holiday camp 3 years ago.
This experience led Roan to play socially in a competition held at Maitland and through this he decided to try out for the NNSW Futsal team where he won selection and went on to represent them in Sydney in January.
His efforts at the Gol Brasil Academy bore fruit when he was selected to represent Australia at the Pearl River Tournament in China last August.
And now, in just a couple of weeks, Roan will find himself in Brazil for another futsal adventure.
Roan told News Of The Area, “My motto in life is ‘Strive for Greatness’, and it’s what I say to myself when I’m working towards goals.”
“It’s my goal to continually improve, and I’m really excited for the next level Brazil is going to take me to.”
News Of The Area wishes Roan the very best of luck with this representative tour.
