Shaeina was named Most Valuable Player for the Triton Women’s Soccer team in 2016-17. She was also voted captain of the women’s soccer team and has started every game for UOG this year. She plays the mid-field position that UOG Women’s Soccer Coach Rod Hidalgo calls Torres the “hardest working position on the field."

But she has also scored 13 goals for UOG this year.

Torres also was one of the best academic student-athletes for the Tritons in 2016-17, as she was a member of the Triton Academic Club, reserved for students with 4.00 GPAs which she maintained for both fall and spring semesters.

Athletic Director Doug Palmer called Torres the complete player.

He said, “She has great athletic ability with the drive to use her talents, combined with a strong academic desire that pushes her every day.”
