Guru FS crowned Futsal champions

BENALMADENA team, Guru FS, has been named champion of the 37th local futsal league. Thirty-six teams from different parts of the province took part, meeting every Saturday from September at the Municipal Sports Centre in Arroyo de la Miel, attracting more than 400 players. The top scorer was Juan Cabrera, with 42 goals, from team “Bar Sin Nombre”, which has come third in the league.

Unlike in previous years, the league was this year divided into three divisions, allowing each team to play all others, with the top eight entering a playoff.

The new system has been well received by participants, with Guru FS seeing off two other teams in the final to be crowned champions. The team almost came unstuck, losing their first final game to Clinico Clavero on penalties, forcing Guru FS to step up their game for the next two matches.
