The Borneo PostRM200,000 for futsal, toilet facilities in Tg DatuFebruary 11, 2017, SaturdayLUNDU: Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has approved RM200,000 for futsal and toilet facilities in Tanjong Datu.
He also pledged 340 LED street lights for 36 villages in the constituency.
“The prime minister has allocated RM100 million to my ministry for lighting up villages in the country. For Tanjong Datu, I will give 340 LED lights to 36 villages. Make sure you vote for Barisan Nasional (BN) on the Feb 18 by-election,” he said at a function here yesterday.
He said former chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem had contributed tremendously to Sarawak and hence, the people of Sarawak ought to continue supporting his widow, Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu, who is expected to retain Tanjong Datu for BN on Feb 18.
“I believe our candidate Datuk Amar Jamilah will carry on the efforts of the late Datuk Patinggi Adenan. For her to do so, you must give her a big mandate on Feb 18.”
Ismail said he would not be surprised if the two contesting opposition parties would resort to seeking sympathy votes before the polling day.
“They know they will lose. They will even tell the voters that BN is going to win, so no need to come down to vote. But our voters should not be misled by them.
“The two opposition parties may even say that voters should vote for them or they will lose their deposits. Imagine, if voters sympathise with them, every vote counts and in the end, they might win. Since they say they may lose their deposits, we should work together to make sure they end up having that result.”
He urged voters in Tanjong Datu to continue making the seat a BN stronghold by giving their undivided support to Jamilah.
Also with him at the function was Azizul Annuar Adenan, who is campaigning on behalf of his mother Jamilah.
Jamilah is involved in a three-cornered fight with Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru’s Rapelson Richard Hamit and State Reform Party’s Johnny Aput.
Tanjong Datu fell vacant following the passing of Adenan on Jan 11.
