Liverpool Futsal v York City Futsal

They've already gloriously claimed a second successive league title and the main challenge for all-conquering York City Futsal is now to try and remain undefeated throughout their whole campaign.

That continues with a visit to take on Livepool at Prenton Road West, Birkenhead early on Sunday evening (kick-off 6.00pm), having already comprehensively thrashed the Merseysiders 6-1 just three weeks earlier courtesy of a Daniel Pedras hat-trick, Fabinho Almeida, Joe Iggulden and Ewan Minter.

Unfortunately skipper Pedras subsequently missed last weekend's thrilling 5-5 draw with Tranmere Rovers due to being suspended. That result was, though, still enough to clinch another title for the magnificent Minstermen and with it the chance of promotion into the Super League alongside the country's leading clubs.

However, Pedras is back in contention this weekend, although Joao Costa is unavailable having returned to Portugal due to a family bereavement, as the visitors chase an eleventh victory in twelve games.

"Getting into the Super League is the clear ambition for this club," York's England international Robbie Bettson told The Press. "That's one of the main reasons I joined, the chance to progress and build something here. It's not just a chance to be part of a team but also to build a one club philosophy."

Bettson arrived in the summer from the now defunct Middlesbrough side along with his younger brother Jamie and England Under-19 international Dylan McAvoy. That trio have since contributed a magnificent twenty-four goals between them this season.

"I've known [head coach] Junior [Roberti] for a few years and have always enjoyed playing against his teams," Bettson continued. "We played York in a pre-season game before the start of the season and with Middlesbrough not likely to continue, he invited us down and it was an easy decision for us."

Following their clash with Liverpool, Roberti's trophy-winning charges have just a couple of league games remaining, with a visit from Derby in their final home fixture being accompanied by a trip to still pointless bottom club Nottingham Trent.

There are a couple of other matches on Sunday afternoon, with Tranmere welcoming Manchester Academy and a doubtless keen local derby involving Nottingham and Derby.
