The Minstermen secured a tenth straight victory while comprehensively accounting for Liverpool 6-1 in their latest game, with Fabinho Almeida, Daniel Pedras (2) and Joe Iggulden each on the mark during the opening half.
Skipper Pedras then proceeded to complete his hat-trick after the break and Ewan Minter rounded off the scoring following a solitary reply from the visitors.
Should York avoid defeat this weekend it would therefore mean back-to-back league titles for Junior Roberti's all-conquering side and promotion into the top-flight Super League.
They already recorded a 5-3 victory in Birkenhead last October, with a hat-trick from England international Robbie Bettson and further goals by Miguel De Vicente and Almedia.
