York City Futsal v Liverpool Futsal

It could be a hugely significant weekend for York City Futsal who are on the brink of a second successive league title.

Should the hosts achieve a tenth consecutive victory at home to Liverpool (kick-off 2.30pm), it would leave them as virtually certain to secure another championship trophy and with it promotion to the Super League.

Still boasting a 100% record four months into the campaign, York have continued to sweep all before them with already three league doubles included amongst a whole host of impressive victories.

That tremendous record actually came close to finally being shattered last time out, until skipper Daniel Pedras rattled in a dramatic last-minute winner against an especially resolute Durham side at the University of York Sports Centre.

But under the expert leadership of Brazilian coach Junior Roberti, the club have remained totally unbeatable since changing their title to York City from the former University of York; that in order to guarantee they will this time be allowed to return amongst the absolute elite of the game.

Junior Roberti is set to lead York to a second consecutive title

Weekend opponents Liverpool are the only club that York haven't faced so far this season and have won four of their nine games, with their only draw being a 5-5 outcome against Derby last time out. It should really have been a significantly better result for them, however, after the Merseysiders raced into a five-goal lead prior to the interval.

The other games this weekend witness a Midlands derby with Loughborough Academy welcoming Derby, while Manchester Academy are hosting bottom club Nottingham Trent.
