York City Futsal on verge of title

York City Futsal can virtually clinch the National League North Division Two title for a second consecutive season with a home victory over Liverpool on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 2.30pm).

The Minstermen secured a ninth successive triumph at the weekend with skipper Daniel Pedras' last-minute winner finally accounting for an always resilient Durham at University of York Sports Centre. That was the skipper's second of the afternoon while James Briars, Robbie Bettson and Dylan McAvoy similarly found the net.

Runaway leaders York City are within four points of a second successive title

Elsewhere, second-placed Derby staged a superb recovery from 5-0 down to rescue an unlikely point in a ten-goal extravaganza at Liverpool. The visitors replied through Immanuel Freeman (2), Dylan Harris-Newton, Samuel Huntingdon and an own-goal after Jack Clapham (2), Pedro Sevilha (2) and Shuzo Yamaki appeared to leave their opponents well in charge.

Tranmere Rovers now move directly behind leaders York having thrashed bottom club Nottingham Trent 12-2. Lucas Gomez Meier claimed a hat-trick alongside Jose Angel Pena Farina (2), Moued Abbassi, Ed Bryers, Andy Cahill, Javier Coleto Cano, Jordan Deer, Daniel Read and Joe Saunders. Trent's goalscorers were Callum Jordan and Oliver Judd.

Loughborough Academy defeated their Manchester counterparts 7-3 in the other game. Nathan Davis struck twice for the hosts and Nathan Jackson, Kyle Lilley, Josh Novis, Nathan Riches and Ryan Waring-Mitchell added further goals. Anass Allaki, Abdallah Mohamed and Ryan Williams replied.
