Newcastle maintained a strong defense holding down their end of the court as they progressed through the second half.

Astig started to get more aggressive with James Ermitanio and Alan Hinson in the frontline getting a few shots in.

Aninzo blocked every attack Astig launched at him but he got worn down as Hinson snuck in the quick shot from underneath to tie the game 1-1 and force the overtime penalty kick situation.

Astig’s Anthony Fruit was the first two give it a go but was not quick enough as Aninzo saved the shot.

Newcastle was the first two break the ice thanks to Guine Borja sliding in the shot from the lower left but Astig’s Alan Hinson evened the score 1-1.

Things started to look bad few Newcastle as Sunjoon Tenorio missed off the right while Astig’s James Ermitanio connected their second goal to take the lead.

Joshua De Leon brought the game back within a deadlock 3-3 and with Aninzo denying Astig’s fourth attempt, strengthen their odds as they had one more chance left.

Mareko Tekopua scored the game-winning shot with an overhead shot to get past Astig’s goalie gaining the 4-3 control and the win to claim the U16 championship title.
