The SentinelFutsal meet in GuwahatiGUWAHATI, Dec 31 - Association of Youth Futsal, Assam will organize a Futsal Tournament- 5v5 Challenge, in the city from January 15. Disclosing the news to the media the General Secretary of the Association of Youth Futsal, Assam, Ranajit Mahanta today said, the tournament will be held on weekends and will be continued for three months. The champion team will receive cash award of Rs 30,000 and runners up team will be richer by Rs 20,000.
He also added, “ The main aim to organize this tournament is to prepare a base of this game in Assam. The tournament will also be considered as platform to select players for the state team in different National Futsal Championship.”
It may be mentioned here that Assam recently took part in the Senior National Futsal Championship and lost the group league games to Goa (3-0), Haryana (3-0) and Gujarat (1-0). The media briefing was also attended by former state soccer player Santosh Goswami and Sanjay Mahanta, the president of the Association of Youth Futsal, Assam.
