2016 Futsal Revamped Boxing day Challenge

Final: Brotherhood 5-3 Viga

Brotherhood Futsal Club won the 2016 Futsal Revamped Boxing day challenge at the Busega Futsal Arena.

The victors overcame a hard fighting Viga outfit 5-3 in a well contested physical final of the day long championship.

Muzafaru Seguya, Badru Kabanda, Henry Katongole, Godfrey Ssekyewa (brace) scored the goals for Brotherhood.

Viga’s Willy Ndawula and a double from Enos Kiwa only acted as consolation strikes of the exciting game.

Brotherhood and Viga were both group B teams having succeeded in the preliminary stages with 9 and 6 points respectively.

Bajim and Sema had qualified as the group A top sided teams with 9 and 6 points respectively.

Top Performers:

Brotherhood’s Arnold Male was voted the best goalie. Abdul Semakula of Bajim finished as top scorer as the immensely skilled Godfrey Ssekeywa took home the Most Valuable Player of the tourney accolade.

The closing ceremony was graced by FUFA competitions Director, Ali Mwebe, Deo Mutabazi (Chairman of Uganda Beach Soccer Association), Fustal Association of Uganda (FAU) Technical Director Pius Sserugo, Hamza Jjunju (FAU Chief Executive Officer) and other FAU officials.

Mwebe urged the players to take the game seriously because of the available opportunities at hand.

Futsal is a fast developing sport.

Please take game as serious as possible because it has very many great opportunities for you.

We are building up a national league from which the national team will be developed to represent the country on the continent and world cup

53 goals were scored in the 12 group stage games and 23 strikes came at the knock out stages.

Overall, the tournament registered 76 goals from 15 games.
