The Sunderland women’s futsal 1st team find themselves sitting in 4th position, six points of top spot.
Having won an excellent two games from a possible three there is plenty for the team to build on when the season resumes after Christmas.
The women’s firsts started their season with a 9-5 victory over the University of Sunderland’s own women’s second team, followed by a 14-1 defeat to Durham women’s 2nds, who currently occupy 1st position.
However, they ended the year with a 5-1 victory over Newcastle University women’s 1sts, leaving them with six points from a possible nine and a goal difference of -5.
Meanwhile, Sunderland’s 2nd team currently lie in 7th position having taken no points from their first three games, with a goal difference of -19.
The seconds started the season with a loss to Sunderland women’s 1st team, then suffered a 5-3 defeat to Northumbria University women’s 3rds and a 13-0 defeat to Northumbria 2nds.
Both teams resume their campaign after Christmas with the 1st team playing Northumbria Women’s 2nd team on January 29 while the 2nd team take on Durham 3rd team on the same day.
