Champions York City Futsal completed a league double over Manchester Academy at the weekend to move eight points clear at the top of National League North Division Two.

Having scored a hat-trick the previous week against Loughborough Academy, James Briars began the scoring and Miguel De Vicente soon added his tenth of the season to move as outright leading marksman before the break.

York continue to be particularly strong in defence having conceded only thirteen times this time around, and goalkeeper Philip Codd was rewarded with his first clean-sheet of the campaign while his colleagues extended their supremacy during the second-half.

Fabinho Almeida immediately claimed a third goal upon the restart and Joe Iggulden registered a first-ever strike for the club before Jamie Bettson raised his own contribution to five this season.

The Minstermen are next in action when taking on Durham at the University of York Sports Centre on Sunday 15th January, kick-off 2.30pm.
