The 1sts began their season with a 13-9 defeat to their own 2nd team which was followed by a 7-4 defeat to York St John 2nds and an 11-4 defeat to Durham 3rds.
They again slipped to defeat against Newcastle men’s 1sts, losing by nine goals to nil. However, when they faced Sunderland 2nds again they picked up their first win of the season, winning 10-4.
Sunderland men’s 2nd team have also endured a difficult season so far, losing three games, drawing one and winning one.
The season started positively for the 2nds, beating Sunderland’s 1sts team. But in their next match, they were beaten by Newcastle 1sts 10-5.
That was then followed by a 4-4 draw with York men’s 2nd team, an 8-3 defeat to York St John 2nd team, and a 10-4 loss to Sunderland 1sts.
Both Sunderland teams also crashed out of the Northern Conference Cup, with Sunderland 1st team narrowly losing 6-5 to York men’s 2nd team and Sunderland 2nds losing 18-1 to Newcastle men’s 1sts.
The futsal teams resume their campaigns in February, with the 1sts facing York St John on February 12, 2017 and the 2nds facing Newcastle 1sts on February 5, 2017
