Canterbury United Dragons claim NZ Football's Futsal League competition bragging rights

The Canterbury United Dragons claimed NZ Futsal League bragging rights in the 2016 competition.

The Dragons produced an impressive second half display to beat Waikato - Bay of Plenty 5-1 in the final, after scores were locked at 1-1 at halftime.

Canterbury's victory came on the back of a 3-2 win over South Island rivals Southern United in the semifinals.

Southern United had entered the final round of the national travelling series as leaders.

Wai-BOP were too strong for host team Auckland 6-1 in the other semifinal.

The NZ Football national futsal league ran from October to December and featured eight teams from throughout New Zealand.
