On ManoramaThema Group win Manoramaonline-Joy Alukkas Futsal FestFriday 09 December 2016Dubai: Thema Group team won the Manoramaonline-Joy Alukkas Futsal Festival beating FOV FC 3-0 in the final that offered some sporting moments for those who gathered at Etisalat Academy here Friday.
For Thema Group team Keralite player Muhammed Aneesh struck a hat-trick. Aneesh, a Perinthalmanna native, is a sevens football player.
FOV FC entered final thrashing Valappil Bulls in the first semi which ended in a tie-breaker. Thema ensured its spot in the final through a lucky draw after their semifinal match against Psycho Dubai failed to find the winner even after the tie-breaker.
As many as 12 teams participated in the tournament. The teams included players from countries across the globe including Portugal, Syria, UAE and Afghanistan.
In the first round, Nellara Foods team and Theema Group team were the winners.
In other games, Joy Alukkas team and Al Barash Shipping team emerged winners.
The first prize for the football tournament is AED10,000 while the second and third prizes are AED7000 and AED4000 each.
Prizes were distributed to winners at a function held in the evening. The winners' trophy was given away to Thema Group team by John Paul Alukkas, executive director, Joy Alukkas Group. Trophy for first runner-up was given away to FOV FC team by Manoramaonline deputy general manager Boby Paul while IAS Media CEO Sunil Kumar gave away the prize for the second runner runner-up to Valappil Bulls.
FOV FC's Aboobacker received the trophy for best defender from Cozmo Travels CEO Jamal Abdulnazer. Sreenivasan of Valappil Bulls received the trophy for best goalkeeper from Jet Airways general manager Anil Sreenivasan. Azharudheen of Valappil Bulls won the trophy for top scorer while Thema Group's Kittan was chosen as the best player. Trophies to them were distributed by Radio Mango head S. Gopalakrishnan and Malayala Manorama chief reporter Jaimon George respectively.
The team members were introduced to Manoramaonline content editor Santhosh George Jacob, marketing deputy general manager Bobby Paul, Malayala Manorama chief reporter Jayamon George, Radio Mango program head S Gopalakrishnan.
