Daily NewsAmana Takaful ‘B’ clinch Futsal Soccer Sevens titleWednesday, December 7, 2016Amana Takaful ‘B’ emerged champions of the Futsal seven-a-side football tournament by beating LB Finance in a penalty shootout by 5-4 after the scores stood at 4 all at full time in the final played at Futsal World Indoor Stadium, Darley Road on Sunday.
The tournament was organized by Mercantile Services Football Association and 24 teams took part in the tournament. National player Mohamed Rifnas (3) and Fasool Rahman (1) scored the goals for Amana Takaful ‘B’. while for the loosers Mohamed Hakeem, Faizer, Safras and Yogaraja scored a goal each.
John Keells finished in third place by overcoming Amana Takaful ‘A’ 4-2. Sanjula Thiku (2) and Darall Alvaran (2) scored the goals for John Keells. While for Amana Takaful ‘A’ M.M. Suhail (1) and Mohamed Irshard (1) scored the goals.
In the semi-finals LB Finance beat John Keells 3-0 while Amana Takaful ‘B’ beat their ‘A’ team by 8-3.
The champion Amana Takaful ‘B’ team received Rs. 50,000 and a trophy while runners-up LB Finance received Rs. 25,000 and a trophy. The trophies were given away by President of Football Federation of Sri Lanka Anura de Silva, President of Mercantile Services Football League Faiz Yusuf, Secretary of FFSL Balendra Anthony and Chief Executive Officer of FFSL U.L. Jaswer.
