The Daily TelegraphRangers in good position to make indoor finals in FebruaryDecember 6, 2016AT THE halfway mark of the season, Mt Druitt Town Rangers futsal teams are well-placed to press for places in the Football NSW Select Premier League 2 finals come February.
The home sides took on Eastern Suburbs Hakoah Futsal in round eight action on Saturday at Kevin Betts Stadium, Mt Druitt.
The points were evenly distributed, with the Rangers claiming five wins on the day.
The best results were from the under-15 girls (6-1 win) and under-16 boys (8-4 win).
The AWD team suffered an 11-5 loss to Phoenix.
Rangers futsal coaching co-ordinator Simon Polinsky said the games wrapped up the first half of the competition.
“We have two more games this year then five early next year,” Polinsky said.
“Our 15 years girls are leading their competition, and the 16 years boys and youth men are both second.”
Futsal was introduced by the Spartans several years ago to complement their outdoor competitions.
Futsal is a summer sport and allows players to work on their close ball skills while maintaining their fitness, ready for the winter outdoor season.
“I’d say 99 per cent of our indoor players play the winter outdoor game,” Polinsky said.
The Spartans next games are on Saturday from noon against West City Crusaders at Penrith sports centre.
