Northern Ireland 1-16 England

Saturday, 3 December 2016

England put on a show of dominance in their second game in the Home Nations Futsaal Championship to go top and set up a showdown with the hosts tomorrow for the title.

Hattrick from Ballinger, braces from Ward, Sotonye, Edge, Medina and goals from Rexha, Palfreeman, Cook, Goldstein and Rooke gave the favourites a well deserved record win.

Northern Ireland didn’t really put up a fight as they did against Wales as England’s class and experience outshone the newcomers. Connor Glenholmes scored Northern Ireland’s consolation, but apart from a couple of shots against the woodwork and a 10 metre penalty, the boys in green didn’t trouble the England goalkeepers.

They’ll put this defeat down to experience and will hope to get their first result as they regroup and go again against Scotland on Sunday.

England record their biggest ever victory for the second day running and will be favourites to lift the title as a draw should be enough for England.

Wales 5-2 Scotland

Saturday, 3 December 2016

Wales set up a final day encounter with England by seeing off a fiery Scottish team on Saturday evening at the Cardiff City House of Sport. Rico Zulkarnain got his first goal of the tournament with a perfect pivot play and turn to strike into the roof of the net.

Wales took the lead through Jonny Nelson - his deflected shot looped over Tough in the Scotland goal - before Scotland rallied and came back, scoring a penalty through McCleish and taking the lead themselves to the surprise of the onlooking crowd. Dayle Robertson the scorer with a mazy run and finish.

A rattled Wales looked to calm the game down and get back on track and Webbe did just that with the equaliser that sent Wales on their way to the win. It was Rico Zulkarnain’s turn and shot that put Wales into the lead and Tyrell Webbe bagged the 4th to send the hosts 4-2 in at the break.

A solitary goal in the second half was the only time the goal was breached and it was the skillful Naim Arsan who put the game to bed.

Scotland had the chance to get back into it with a 10 metre penalty but shot wide and Wales brought out the fly goalkeeper late in the second half as practice ahead of the final tomorrow.
England only need to draw against the hosts to claim the first ever Home Nations Futsal Championship title as they lead on superior goal difference, owed to their 16-1 demolition of Northern Ireland earlier on Saturday.
