Futsal finally takes off in SA

JOHANNESBURG – South Africa has finally woken up to a sport that is tremendously popular worldwide.

The national futsal league has just concluded but not many didn’t even know that it started.

Argentina are the reigning Fifa Futsal World Cup Champions; while Brazil have won it five times.

Earlier this year South Africa hosted the Africa Futsal Cup of Nations; and crashed out in the first round.

Morocco were the winners of that tournament, and together with Egypt and Mozambique; represented the continent at the World Cup.

So, how far is South Africa behind neighbours Mozambique, never mind a powerhouse like Brazil?
