Champions York City Futsal continued their perfect start to the season with a 6-3 victory at Loughborough Academy.

England international Robbie Bettson scored twice to take his individual tally to seven in four games, while there were also doubles from Jamie Bettson and Dylan McAvoy.

A fourth successive win on their travels therefore moves the Minstermen within three points of the current leaders with still four games in hand, although there were shocks elsewhere with a couple of title rivals falling to seemingly unlikely home defeats.

Leaders Tranmere Rovers surprisingly went down 3-2 to Liverpool despite a late fightback, although they still remain top of the table. Dimitrios Charlaftis, Kaita Hasegawa and Pedro Sevilha were on target for the Merseysiders, with Javier Coleto Cano and Lucas Gomez Meier replying.

Meanwhile, Derby were similarly edged out as latest visitors Manchester Academy emerged with an impressive 4-3 triumph, courtesy of goals from Ryan Williams, Michal Malaski, Aleksander Dyrszka and Jake Hatton. Derby's goalscorers were Immanuel Freeman, Dylan Harris-Newton and Kieran Oliver.

However, second-placed Durham are still showing well with a 9-5 success against bottom-of-the-table Nottingham Trent strengthening their own title claims; Adam Byron (5), Jack Gunn (3) and Xavi Rodriguez Corral on the scoresheet. Trent's Daouda Cisse and Tom Edgeley both claimed doubles alongside Lewis Heron.

Loughborough Academy Futsal: Binyam Amare, Jordan Astell, Oliver Brant, Miles Chadwick, Nathan Davis, Blaise Gapp-Webb, Liam Hulse, Nathan Jackson, Kyle Lilley, Samuel Mattocks, Josh Novis, Humraj Padan

Goals: Amare, Gapp-Webb, Lilley

York City Futsal: Philip Codd, Fabio Almeida, Jamie Bettson, Robbie Bettson, Joao Costa, Miguel De Vincente, Dylan McAvoy, Jack Overton, Daniel Pedras, Adam Richmond
