Futsal team booted from social comp after ‘full-on’ violence at game on Hobart’s Eastern Shore

November 10, 2016

A FUTSAL team has withdrawn from a social men’s competition after a violent episode during a game in Clarence this week.

A complaint was lodged with Football Federation Tasmania and the team agreed to withdraw from the competition.

A member of the team received a red card and was sent off after hitting someone during the game. For the uninitiated, futsal is a modified form of soccer usually played indoors.

The victim sat out the rest of the game and the offending player left the stadium. The competition then resumed.

It is understood another violent incident occurred outside the venue at the end of the game.

“Competition is one thing but full-on violence is another,” a FFT spokesman said.

“That kind of violence will not be tolerated. The team acknowledged the federation’s suggestion that they withdraw from social competition.”
