eThekwini City are the national Futsal champions

The local lads have scored 91 goals in 11 matches and have conceded just 22 in the 2016 Futsal season.

eThekwini City has emerged the SAFA National Futsal League champions by defeating Young Natalians by 4-2. eThekwini City needed just a draw to win the National League title with two games to play.

The local lads refused to take the decision to the last match of the season and put up a sterling performance to beat Natalians 4-2 at the UKZN Westville Indoor Centre on Saturday. At the break, eThekwini City were 1 nil down.

The second half saw a more determined City and as time progressed, they took control of the match and were the well deserved victors. eThekwini City is the only unbeaten team in the league and with still one more match to play, they have wrapped up the league. Their last match is against PMB Hotspurs on November 11 in Pietermaritzburg and if they win that encounter, they will win the league unbeaten, a feat that may never be repeated ever again in this country.

The local lads have scored 91 goals in 11 matches and have conceded just 22 in the 2016 Futsal season. The team’s commitment, discipline and hard work has paid great dividends.

The eThekwini lads have literally destroyed every team en-route to attaining the highest award in Futsal. After a fantastic team effort the entire season, the local lads deserve to be recognised as the number one Futsal team in the country.
