Robbie's England miss out

York City Futsal's Robbie Bettson's England Futsal team lost out 5-3 to international debutants Germany in the first of two scheduled meetings in Hamburg.

In front of a sell-out crowd of 2,510 and while being shown live on German TV, skipper Timo Heinze earned the hosts an eighth minute advantage after Stuart Cook had already struck against the woodwork at the other end.

That was added to by Timo di Gorgio following a similar length of time, although Douglas Reed's rapid brace brought their visitors back level by the break.

However, further strike from Christopher Wittig (26), ex-Bundesliga player Lennart Hartmann (30) and Michael Meyer (33) then saw the Germans regain the ascendancy before fly-goalkeeper James Webb's (38) late reply.

The two sides meet again on Tuesday.

England Squad: Thomas Dennis (Loughborough), Mark Croft (Loughborough), Stuart Cook (Wrexham), Raoni Medina (London Helvecia), Richard Ward (Manchester), James Webb (Loughborough), Luke Ballinger (Melksham), Max Kilman (London Genesis), Robert Betson (York City), Doug Reed (Futsal Dinamo), Russell Goldstein (London Helvecia), Joe Kenny (Loughborough), Jon Adams (Melksham), Jonny Sim (London Helvecia)

City Futsal replaced at top

York City Futsal have been replaced at the top of FA National Futsal Super League North Division Two.

The Minstermen's weekend inactivity allowed title rivals Tranmere Rovers to overtake them following an eleven-goal thriller at Manchester Academy. Rovers eventually prevailed 6-5 in a contest that witnessed ten goals arrive during a frantic opening half.

Ed Bryers scored a hat-trick for the visitors alongside Javier Coleto Cano, Jose Angel Pena Farina and Joe Saunders. Hitting replies were Brad Dowling, Aleksander Dyrszka, Charlie Goddard and Michal Masalkski, while there was also an own-goal.

Meanwhile, Durham have displaced Loughborough Academy in second place after overcoming them 11-6.

However, York currently have games in hand on both Tranmere [three] and Durham [two] - and next visit Loughborough on 13th November before then travelling to Durham a week later.
