Vital Football/York CityTranmere Rovers Futsal 3 York City Futsal 5York City Futsal produced a superb late rally to maintain their perfect start to the season with a 5-3 victory against second-placed Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park.
England international Robbie Bettson scored a hat-trick for the visitors and Miguel De Vicente and Fabinho Almeida were similarly on target.
The Minstermen were without the services of influential skipper and leading scorer Daniel Pedras, who was away on honeymoon; De Vicente instead taking over the armband and also contributing his fourth goal of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Mahiko Konishi and Jack Overton both had to be ruled out prior to kick-off due to illness, so there was a first opportunity for summer recruit and Latvian top goalscorer Jevgenijs Drabovics
However, the visitors wasted little time getting into their stride with acting skipper De Vicente setting up recent arrival Robbie Bettson for their opening goal.
Marksman Robbie Bettson was then twice denied his second by decent saves from the home goalkeeper, although it was actually the hosts suddenly drawing level with a cross from the left being turned in by Joe Saunders at the far post.
England Under-19 international Dylan McAvoy next went close for the visitors, while City keeper Philip Codd reacted well to ensure the scores remained level at the interval.
Rovers struck immediately after the restart, though, with Jose Angel Pena's shot finding the top corner from the right - and it later required another fine stop by Codd to keep his side within reach.
But threatened by a first defeat of the campaign, champions York seriously pressed late on and incredibly scored four times during a frantic last six minutes, with De Vicente driving a free-kick into the corner and Almeida converting at the far post.
Danger-man Robbie Bettson then added his second of the contest on the turn; and though Rovers' Oscar Fernandez soon replied following a double-rebound, Robbie Bettson completed his hat-trick by taking advantage of a misplaced pass and 'fly' goalkeeper.
There was still enough time remaining for De Vicente to lift a 'free' shot over the target for the visitors and Codd to produce a late fingertip save
