City Futsal knocked off top

York City Futsal will be attempting to reclaim top position in FA National Futsal Super League North Division 2 when visiting Tranmere Rovers on Sunday.

The Minstermen were without a game at the weekend and the reigning champions' inactivity allowed a couple of their rivals to make up ground while recording important victories.

Loughborough Academy are the new leaders of the table following a narrow 3-2 win at Manchester Academy.

Binyam Amare, Nathan Davis and Josh Novis were each on target for the visitors with Andrew Hutchinson and Michal Masalkski replying.

Next opponents Tranmere, already defeated by Loughborough last month, moved into second place courtesy of a 7-5 success at bottom club Nottingham Trent.

Vincente Fernandez and Victor Lozano Ontalba both scored twice for the visitors alongside Javier Coleto Cano, Lucas Gomez Meier and Jose Angel Pena Farina. Trent's Lou Barry (2), Kelsey Francis, Ben Jackson and Oliver Judd replied.

In the other game, latest runners-up Derby claimed their first maximum points of the season while comfortably accounting for Liverpool 8-3.

Krystian Antczak netted four times for the hosts with Dylan Harris-Newton and Kieran Oliver adding doubles. Thomas Bateman, Neil Weaver and Shuzo Yamaki responded for the Merseysiders.

This weekend's fixtures have new leaders Loughborough hosting Derby on Saturday afternoon, before Liverpool welcome Durham and champions York travel to Tranmere in the big game twenty-four hours later.
