Vital Football - York CityDerby Futsal v York City FutsalThe two leading clubs in FA National Futsal Super League North Division Two last season go head-to-head on Sunday afternoon when current champions York City meet runners-up Derby at Hilton Road, Etwell, DE65 6HZ (kick-off 5.20pm).
A single-point advantage ultimately proved sufficient to secure the title in York's favour having already defeated the Midlands side 6-3 at home in September. An ultimately crucial 5-5 draw between the sides then followed four months later, City's new skipper Daniel Pedras and Mahiko Konishi both amongst their goalscorers.
The duo were also on the mark as the free-scoring Minstermen began their title defence with a rampant 11-2 victory at Manchester Academy just a fortnight ago. Both Pedras and Miguel De Vicente, plus new England international signings Robbie Bettson and Dylan McAvoy, scored twice for the visitors alongside Fabinho Almeida, Jamie Bettson and Konishi.
Head coach Junior Roberti was reporting a full squad available for the trip to Derby as the visitors attempt to build upon that explosive start and justify their pre-season title-favourites tag and with it a return to Super League.
For their part weekend opponents Derby started out with a narrow 7-6 defeat at Tranmere Rovers, Joseph Illston and Kieran Oliver each scoring twice; although they were more successful in a 4-4 draw with Durham a week later as Dylan Harris-Newton claimed a brace despite being red-carded during the previous game.
Other fixtures this weekend witness early table-toppers Durham travelling to Tranmere and Loughborough Academy hosting Nottingham Trent, while there is also a big north-west derby scheduled between Liverpool and Manchester Academy.
