Red Bull National Futsal League: Baneshwor, Kumari win

Kumari Futsal, Baneshwor Recreational Centre and Sankhamul Futsal registered victories in the highest cash prize Red Bull National Futsal League on Wednesday.

Kumari won at home, defeating Highway Futsal 3-1 with a brace from Abhishek Rijal. Rupesh Chhetri also added one for the winners. Amit Tamang of Highway replied for the visitors. Tamang was later adjudged the man-of-the-match.

Baneshwor upset hosts White Horse Futsal 5-2 as Krishna Gyawali and Kalfu Rasaili netted two goals each. Manish Rana also scored one for the winners. Rupesh Lama and Rajeev Bhujel pulled back one goal each for the losing side. Rajat Sharma of Baneshwor was named the man-of-the-match.

In Kirtipur, Sankhamul inflicted a 10-4 defeat on hosts Kirtipur Futsal after Sher Bahadur Thapa Magar and Abaya Rana completed a hat-trick each. Dinesh Rajbanshi also added a double, while Sanjog Chamling and Biplav Dhoj Shah completed the rout. Thapa Magar took away the man-of-the-match award.

The tournament is a first of its kind in Nepal where the participating teams play on home and away format. The winners of the tournament will grab a cash purse of one million rupees, while runners-up get Rs 500,000.

Kumari, Baneshwar triumph

KATHMANDU, Sept 28: Kumari Futsal, Baneshwar Recreation Center and Shankamul Futsal registered wins on Wednesday in the Red Bull National Futsal League played at various futsal arenas of the capital.

Kumari Futsal overcame Highway Futsal 3-1 at its home turf. Abhishek Rijal netted twice for the home team's victory while Rupesh Chhetri added another goal. Amit Tamang scored a consolation goal for Highway.

In another match played at the White Horse Futsal, Baneshwar Recreation Center edged past the home team 5-2. Karun Gyawali and Kalfu Rasaili netted twice for the visiting team Baneshwar. Manish Rana added another. Rupesh Lama and Rajiv Bhujel were on target for the home team.

Meanwhile, Sankhamul Futsal thumped home team Kirtipur Futsal 10-4 in Kirtipur. Abhay Rana and Sher Bahadur Thapa each netted thrice for Sankhamul. Dinesh Rajbanshi scored a brace while Sanjog Chamling and Biplav Dhoj Shah netted one each for the winning team.

Altogether 16 teams are competing in the tournament being held under home and away format. The participating teams are divided into two groups. The event is also the highest cash prized event in domestic futsal. The winner will walk home with a purse of Rs 1 million and the runner-up will go richer by Rs 500,000. Similarly, the best player and best goalkeeper will be rewarded with Rs 50,000 each.
