Red Devils take on challenge

September 28, 2016

by Litia Tikomailepanoni

The Red Devils FC Futsal team left our shores to compete at the Cairns International Futsal Club Challenge in Cairns, Australia.

The Mohammed Shafil captained side were waiting for this opportunity and were fortunate to be invited to play.
The five-a-side champion club left with 12 players, which included the likes of Nadi reps Shafil, William Valentin and Mohammed Salmeen.

Red Devils team director, Mohammed Saiyaad, said the experience they get would help in the development of futsal in Fiji and they have also taken a number of young players for exposure as well.

"We are in a difficult pool where we face the Solomon Islands national team, Argentina and Japan", he said.

"We have already talked with our players to give their best and achieve the goal we've set. We also thank Fiji Football Association for giving us this chance and our sponsors All Freight Logistics and Secure Bag Limited".

Shafil said he was excited of the wonderful opportunity as this would get them the exposure they need in futsal.

"This will be a learning experience and I hope to do my best during the competition" he added.
