Kathmandu PostRed Bull Futsal League: Chaur see off Dhuku 3-2Sep 27, 2016Chaur Recreational Centre of Bansbari opened the highest cash-prized Red Bull Futsal League with a thrilling 3-2 win over Dhuku Futsal Hub of Maharajgunj on Monday.
Playing at their own turf, Ranjit Shrestha scored a brace and Ramesh Gurung added another for Chaur, while Sabin KC and Suraj Raut converted for Dhuku. Shrestha opened the scoring for Chaur only for KC to equalise for Dhuku. Dhuku then went ahead through a second half goal from Raut but Gurung brought Chaur back in the back with an equaliser. Man-of-the-match Shrestha had a last say as he struck again in the dying moments of the game to hand Chaur the victory.
Earlier in the inaugural game, Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) hammered hosts AMA Events 11-3. Basu Awale scored four goals, while Ayush Khadka and Prajit Shakya added three goals each for NSJF. Nishal Rai also hit the target for NSJF.
Former national team skippers Bal Gopal Maharjan, Upendra Man Singh and Rakesh Shrestha inaugurated the final round of the 16-team tournament. The final 16 teams were confirmed following the selection round held at different venues. The teams have been divided into two groups of eight with Adarsha Futsal, Baneshwor Recreation Centre, Busy Brother, Chaur Recreation Centre, Dhuku Futsal Hub, Harisiddhi Futsal, Highway Futsal and Emporial Futsal drawn in Group ‘A’.
Group ‘B’ consists of Kirtipur, Kumari, Rajani, Samkhushi, Sankhamul, Tahachal and White Horse. Each team will play the other at home and away format with the winners from each group to play for the title. The champions will earn one million rupees and runners-up will take home Rs 500,000. Each team consists of 12 players, one coach and a manager.
The best player of the tournament and the best goalkeeper will be presented with Rs 50,000 each. The tournament is the biggest futsal event of the country in terms of cash prize offered to the champions and runners-up.

Chaur took the lead in the match through Ranjit Shrestha before Sabin KC of Dhuku levelled the scores in the first half. Dhuku went ahead in the second half through Suraj Raut’s goal, while Ramesh Gurung scored the equaliser and Shrestha scored his second and team’s third goal lead Chaur to victory. Shrestha was named the man-of-the-match and received gift hamper.
Earlier, Nepal Sports Journalist Forum hammered the organisers of the League ANA Events 11-3 in a friendly match played to mark the opening of the tournament. Basu Awal scored four goals alone, while Prajeet Shakya and Ayush Khadka netted hat-tricks and Nishan Rai struck one for the NSJF.

Chaur and Dhuku are in Group A along with Rajani Futsal, Emperial Futsal, White Horse, Baneshwor Recreation, Adarsha Futsal and Kickoff Futsal. Likewise, Harisiddhi, Samakhusi, Kumari, Highway, Kirtipur, Shankhamul, Tahachal and Busy Futsal are in Group B.

My RepublicaImperial, Samakhusi triumphSeptember 27, 2016KATHMANDU, Sept 27: Imperial Futsal and Samakhusi Futsal registered away wins on Tuesday in the Red Bull National Futsal League being held in the capital. Imperial edged past Rajani Futsal, Samakhusi 4-2 at the latter's home turf.
Nirajan Gaire scored a hat-trick for the winning team scoring in the 11th, 35th and 38th minutes. Kishan Adhikari was also on target for Imperial Futsal in the 12th minute.
Rushan KC and Suman Karki netted one each for home team Rajani.
In another match played at Harisiddhi Futsal in Lalitpur, Samakhusi inflicted 7-3 defeat to the home team.
Santosh Tamang netted a hat-trick for Harisiddhi, while Nabin Lama achieved the target twice. Similarly, Sandip Thapa and Sujan Maharjan scored one each.
The event being played under home and away basis is participated by 16 teams. The participants are divided into two groups of eight teams each. The event carries highest cash prize in domestic futsal. The winning side will go richer by Rs 1 million and the runner-up will walk home with purse of Rs 500,000. The best player and best goalkeeper will get Rs 50,000 each.
