EPF ladies win on penalties to clinch title at futsal event

EMPLOYEES Provident Fund (EPF) became the champions of the second edition of the Ladies SportsUnite Futsal Carnival.

The carnival, organised by SportsUnite Sports Club and ShegSports, was held at the newly opened Super Bobai Futsal courts in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur, and supported by Respect, a sports NGO, Figos and Antabax.

A total 18 teams from the Klang Valley took part in the carnival. The teams were divided into four groups. After the first round, the top two teams from each group advanced to the quarter-finals.

EPF, along with Team Emonies FC, Gais FC and The Printing Dudes qualified for the semi-finals.

The first semi-final saw Team Emonies FC defeating Gais FC 3-1. EPF qualified for the final after a 2-0 win over The Printing Dudes.

The final between EPF and Team Emonies FC was a keenly contested match and ended 2-2.

The champions were decided on a penalty shoot-out and EPF emerged as the winners.

In the Plate category, Team Try Our Best (Team TOB ) became the champions with a 3-1 victory over team Ion Neutron.

There was no cash prize but the top four teams were rewarded with medals, mini hampers and footballs from the sponsors.
