Mehr NewsIran draws against AzerbaijanTEHRAN, Sep. 19 (MNA) – Iran’s national futsal players drew their last group stage match against Azerbaijan at the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup underway in Colombia.
In its third 2016 Futsal World Cup encounter, Iran drew with Azerbaijan Republic 3-3 in an entertaining match at Medellín as the second-largest city in Colombia.
Ahmad Esmaeilpour, Farhad Tavakoli and Hossein Tayebi found the net for the Iranian side while Bolinha and Gallo (2 goals) drew level.
In last stages of the match, Iran deployed a flying goalkeeper in order to get the better of Azerbaijan though their endeavors remained unrewarded.
Given that the scores were tied at 3-3, both Azerbaijan and Iran managed to advance to the next round from Group F in second and third place respectively.
Persians had previously conceded a defeat to Spain in their opening showdoan while they had later overcome Morocco.
In their upcoming contest, Iranians are scheduled to take up title-hopeful Brazil while a victory over Azerbaijan could set them against Thailand.
