The AFC.comFIFA FUTSAL WORLD CUP: PARAGUAY 7-1 VIETNAMSep 15 2016Medellin: Debutants Vietnam suffered a setback in their 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup campaign as they lost 7-1 to Paraguay in their second Group Stage match on Wednesday (local time).
Having downed Guatemala 4-2 in their campaign opener, the Vietnamese bowed down to a Paraguay side that were looking to bounce back after a first-up defeat against Italy.
It was a clinical display from Paraguay who took full advantage of a slow-starting Vietnam side, with the Paraguayans turning on the style against Vietnam to score five unanswered goals by half-time.
Francisco Martinez capitalised on good teamwork to fire home inside three minutes, but it was a three-goal three-minute salvo midway through the opening half that left debutants Vietnam stunned.
Paraguay’s quick and accurate ball movement left Vietnam chasing shadows at times, and the south-east Asians struggled to maintain the ball when the opportunity arose.
To their credit, Vietnam regrouped in the second period and enjoyed more possession that their opponents, although there was to be no reward until Van Vu Tran scored with virtually the last kick of the match.
In fact it was La Albirroja who had the better of the half, at least according to the scoresheet, as Richard Rejala and Juan Pedrozo both netted in the final seven minutes.
Vietnam will conclude their Group C campaign on Saturday with a tough task against European heavyweights Italy.

The AFC.comFIFA FUTSAL WORLD CUP: AUSTRALIA 1-11 BRAZILSep 15 2016Bucaramanga: Australia were dealt an 11-1 thrashing by Brazil in their second outing at the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016 at the Coliseo Bicentenario on Wednesday (local time).
Brazil’s dominance was felt right from the off, as the opening minute saw a litany of shots pepper the Futsalroo goal, so it was no surprise when Rodrigo volleyed in a superb effort from the right early on.
Falcao – in search of the all-time scorer’s record – almost doubled their lead with an outrageous lob from inside his own half, but it crashed against the bar, only to see Australia go level soon after. Greg Giovenali firing through Tiago’s legs against the run of play.
While Brazil seemed taken aback, that was only for a brief spell, as Fernandinho hammered home from an impossible angle before Falcao got his first of the night. Australia still had their chances on the break, but Sergio’s side’s possession play had a resilient Australia hemmed back.
Brazil had moved further clear as Falcao turned on the style, mesmerizing Tobias Seeto before slamming the ball high into the net, then following it up with some delightful ball-juggling to ignite the crowd. From that point though the Brazilian river was in full flow, as Australia’s draining doggedness left them open to being tugged out of place, which was duly punished.
Falcao capped off a strong night with his hat-trick, but a nasty injury to Je, taken away in an ambulance after an awkward fall, was the only negative for Brazil.
Australia face Ukraine in their last Group Stage match on Saturday (local time) in Bucaramanga.

The AFC.comFIFA FUTSAL WORLD CUP: I.R. IRAN 5-3 MOROCCOSep 16 2016Medellin: Islamic Republic of Iran put their FIFA Futsal World Cup campaign back on track with a 5-3 Group F victory over Morocco in Medellin on Thursday (local time).
The Asian champions, who suffered a surprisingly hefty 5-1 opening defeat against Spain on the opening matchday, belatedly found form.
After a slow start from both teams, Iran moved to a three-goal lead and they held a handy 4-2 margin at the break.
The match found its intensity and as the fouls mounted Morocco’s Mohamed Jaoud who, having scored the north Africans’ first goal, was sent for a stint on the sidelines and Iran added two goals in quick succession.
The second half was a more controlled affair and Morocco, fighting for their Futsal World Cup lives, pushed Iran hard in the second period.
Iran scores soon after the break and much of the remainder of the half saw Morocco in the ascendency leaving their opponents happy to counter-attack.
Morocco again drew within two goals of their rivals as captain Adil Habil netted his second of the night but it was to prove a bridge too far.
Iran will look to lock up passage to the Round of 16 on Sunday (local time) when they tackle enigmatic debutants Azerbaijan.
Iran scorers:
Hossein Tayebi (9'49")
Mahdi Javid (14'54")
Ali Hassan Zadeh (16'00", 23'40")
