Harlow StarNew club Mazza Futsal honing youngsters' talentsSeptember 15, 2016One Harlow football coach is honing the skills of a new batch of young sporting talent.
Muzza Futsal was created by Mario Petruccio earlier this year and provides children the opportunity to get involved in the fast-moving and ever-growing sport.
Originating in South America, the five-a-side game is played with a heavier, smaller ball than a regular football, while being indoors allows it to be played all-year round.
It is where some of the great 11-a-side players learned their skills, and Petruccio wants to guide other youngsters on the path to success.
He said: "I started the club in April because I wanted kids to have another sport option, to increase their creative confidence, develop social skills and to gain fitness and good health in a fun and safe environment.
"I'm a member of the FA Licensed Coaches Club and I also help coach grassroots for a newly-developing team of U9s for Clodan Youth.
"All of my sessions are for both boys and girls but if I do get enough interest from girls then I would love to start a girls' only session."
The sessions currently take place at The Barn at the Great Parndon Community Association in Abercrombie Way on Tuesdays between 5-7pm for U9s (Year 4).
But the futsal club are also expanding, with sessions to take place at Passmores Academy, starting on Thursday, September 29 from 5-7pm for U10s (Year 5).
There will also be training for U12s (Year 7) on Friday, September 30 from 6-7pm.
The first session is free, with the cost £5 after that and if you want your child to get involved you can contact Petruccio at mazzafutsal@yahoo.com.
