The NationThailand beaten 6-4 by Russia in Futsal World CupSeptember 11, 2016Thailand began their Fifa Futsal World Cup campaign with a 6-4 loss to Russia in their Group B opener in Columbia on Sunday.
Inspired by Eder Lima, the tournament's Golden Boot winner four years ago, Russia, ranked third, jumped into a three-goal before Supawut Thueanklang clawed a goal back for the Thais just before the interval.
Two quick-fire goals from Jirawat Sornwichian and Apiwat Chaemcharoen helped the Thai side making their fifth appearance in the competition draw level early in the second half but the Russians soon restored their three-goal advantage.
The Thais launched late rally and Chudech Jetsada pulled another goal back but Russia stood firm in the face of intense pressure to secure the opening win.
