City Futsal sign England men

York City Futsal have signed former England skipper Ben Mortlock as Assistant Coach to work alongside manager Junior Roberti.

Mortlock has been playing for England for almost seven years and was appointed as captain in August 2014, first wearing the armband against Montenegro a couple of months later.

"The first trip was weird," Mortlock admitted to the Grimsby Telegraph. "I didn't feel like I was captain against Montenegro as it was all very fresh and strange.

"But when we came and played at St George's Park for the first time - with so many fans and important people watching, and with that little bit more pressure on the game - that's when it really hit me that I was the captain."

Ambitious York have also brought in England Under-19 international Dylan McAvoy, with manager Roberti adding: "It is clear to see that Dylan possesses a lot of potential and will be a key player for us this season."

Meanwhile, Miguel de Vicente has committed to the club for another season having been part of the side that won the FA National Futsal Super League Northern Division Two title last season.

"We are looking to return to the Super League," he said. "I want to be a big part of that process and will be doing everything possible to make that a reality."
