Radio Cadena AgramonteCuban futsal team arrives in Colombia for World CupHavana, Cuba, Sep 8.- The Cuban futsal team arrived to the Colombian city of Medellin, where from next Saturday will start the World Cup of this soccer modality.
The squad coached by Clemente Reynoso was included in group B, with stage at Ivan de Bedout Coliseum, along with Egypt, Thailand and Russia.
Cubans will debut on Saturday 10th against Egyptians, African runners-up in 2016, in match that will officially inaugurate that facility.
According to the draw, Cuba will then face Thailand on Tuesday 13th, while on Friday 16th they will clash with the Russians, top favorites to head this poole.
For this World Cup, the Cuban side underwent 13 friendly matches during July and August, against national teams and clubs in Chile, Guatemala and Argentina, where they saw a higher-level football and they grew up more as a team.
Although the final balance was adverse, 38 goals for and 62 against, it is worth mentioning that they scored goals in every game, something the Cuban football in any modality has always lacked.
Cuban futsal attended four consecutive World Cups: Spain 1996, Guatemala 2000, Chinese Taipei 2004 and Brazil 2008, but did not qualify for Thailand 2012.
